FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ISSUES

 

With the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 ('The Act') Public Authorities are required to respond in accordance with the requirements of Act.Ôø‡Ôø‡ The Information Commissioner's Office enforces the Act and has powers to ensure compliance (www.ico.gov.uk).Ôø‡Ôø‡

The Act created a new right of access to recorded information held by those Public Authorities covered by the Act.Ôø‡Ôø‡ One requirement of the ActÔø‡Ôø‡ is to mandate a response from Public Authorities to requests for Recorded Information that fall within the scope of the Act.Ôø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡Ôø‡
